Larry Dorn

Chairman

Larry is part of a family tree that extends six generations in Fergus Falls, Minnesota. His family has inspired him to try to make a meaningful contribution to his community while living out his own values and goals.

While in college, he traveled throughout the United States as a salesman for Northrup King Seed Company. It was there that he learned to "leave his territory in better shape than he found it", which has developed into a personal philosophy ever since.

While attending St. Cloud State College, Larry became interested in finance and graduated in 1964 with a degree in business. Entering the securities business that same year seemed to be a perfect fit. In 1968 he became owner and financial principal of Dorn & Co., Inc., and expanded the firm into investment banking, focusing on municipal bond sales.

Larry is a past trustee and instructor of the Securities Industry Institute which operates in conjunction with the Wharton School on the campus of the University of Pennsylvania. He was inducted into the Research Magazine Broker Hall of Fame and was selected as one of the '10 Outstanding Brokers' in the nation by Registered Representative magazine. He has been an expert witness in securities industry cases in Minnesota, North Dakota and New York. Larry is a member of the Fergus Falls High School Hall of Fame, and is a recipient of the Distinguished Alumni Award from St. Cloud State University.

Larry recently retired as chairman of the Lake Region Hospital Foundation, where he had served as trustee on the board for over 40 years. He is a past President of the Fargo-Moorhead Opera, First Lutheran Church, Fergus Falls Chamber of Commerce, and trustee of the St. Cloud State University Foundation and the Fargo-Moorhead Symphony Board.

Larry and his wife Jeanette have two children, Jennifer and Matthew, and six grandchildren. Larry and Jeanette enjoy spending time with family and friends, travel, music, reading and boating on Otter Tail Lake.
